Give them a head start with our Roblox Game Development course!

This is a fantastic 4-day course delivered by the experts at Blueshift Coding. Designed and led by industry leaders within the coding education field, providing the latest technologies and teaching practices.

As part of the course, the children will learn the basics of how Roblox Game Development works, and design three games of their own. 

With a maximum group size of 14, your child will be able to socialise and collaborate with other like minded children, coming away with brand new skills and friends.

If you need extra flexibility you can also book on to our Early and Late Clubs from 8am to 6pm.

On this course children will learn how to use Roblox Studio to design and create their own Roblox experiences. They will build their own 3D worlds, populate them with characters and objects, and then bring these to life by writing scripts using the Lua coding language. Sessions focus on exploring different genres of popular Roblox games (obbies, adventure games, etc.), providing the technical knowledge necessary to make a game of that type.

Educational and academic benefits

• Coding Skills: The coding language Lua will be used throughout the course to create interesting, interactive behaviours in Roblox Studio. Computer science concepts explored during the course will transferable to any other coding language children might already be using (Scratch, Python, JavaScript)
• Games Development: Roblox Studio itself is an excellent introduction to working in video games, and is closely modelled on existing professional games development software (Unity, Unreal Engine). Children will be exposed to techniques and best-practices employed in the video games industry to create their own awesome games
• Game Design: By reflecting on how to create the most fun game possible, they will build up their game design skills. Knowledge of how humans interact with technology in video games encourages critical thinking about how they engage with technology in other areas of their lives

Creative and wellbeing benefits

• Creative Expression: Once children have all the subject knowledge they need to create a specific type of game, they are encouraged to let their creativity loose and build something they are really proud of. On the surface coding might not seem like a ‘creative’ pursuit, but the amount of creative expression possible using these technologies is astonishing
• Collaboration: Testing and iterative refinement are how amazing games are created, we will be regularly testing out each others’ games during this course! Children will be taught how to provide constructive and respectful feedback, and how to use feedback the receive to improve their games
• Online Safety: Children will be taught best practices for keeping safe online. We will be focusing on what safety looks like in Roblox specifically, but the principals are applicable to any area of a child’s life online
