Summer camp weekly highlights

It was a bitter sweet week at camp as this is our final week of the summer (although pleased to have Chislehurst camp open for 1 last week this week!). With 39 camps open there was still a lot of opportunity for fun as we reach the end of the summer.

The energy levels remained high as children and staff ended the #summeroffun with a bang.

Weekly theme

We had a glow up week at camp with our Crazy Colours weekly theme. We enjoyed a sparkling kaleidoscope of fun activities and lots of fun tweaked activities bringing something special camp. 

Around camps

Farnham camp is going great guns, starting the day off with an efficient registration with children excited for their day ahead. Camp Manager, Hanna and the Blue Shirts team are well organised and leading a fun camp. We've loved seeing the great relationships between the Red Shirts and children on camp. Stand out sessions have been swimming, arts and crafts and Kin Ball.

There’s been a great atmosphere at Godalming camp and children are living their best lives. We loved seeing the dance routine perfected by kids in Dance and Drama sessions. Children have really explored their imaginations in art and crafts and swimming has been splashing good fun!

Chigwell have enjoyed a wide variety of great sessions over the week including a fun Gruffalo Hunt, high energy Dodgeball sessions and, of course, lots of great swimming.

Other moments to savour throughout our camps have been; Enjoying a bit of healthy competition at Maidstone, adding a leader board for fastest run on the Twin Lane inflatable course. Amazing arts and crafts and creative sessions at Romford. Fun basketball, excellent motor mania and archery at Woking. Lots of water fun at Barnet with swimming and the aqua slide. Fantastic Explore and Play with the Minnows at Tonbridge. Fun Motor Sports at Woodford. Fantastic artwork at Andover with great displays in the Early Years Minnows base room. Salisbury is rocking it with great swimming sessions, creativity in arts and crafts and great sessions run across the groups throughout the week.

Specialist courses

Last week children enjoyed developing their tech skills with AI Learning at Streatham & Clapham and Watford, Minecraft at Woodford. It was football fever with our official Football camps with Norwich CSF football camp at Bedford and Cambridge and West Ham United Foundation football camp at Chelmsford and Upminster.

Staff member of the week

We value our amazing seasonal staff who bring all the energy, imagination and care to camp every day. Each week we select our stand out member who brings additional sparkle. Last week we chose Grace from Cambridge Long Road. This is what the camp manager had to say about Grace:

“Grace has worked every day of the 4 weeks of camp. She has been a fantastic Group Leader and Activity Leader when required and has worked with the Swordfish, Sharks and Barracudas groups whilst on camp. She is always a positive character around camp and is always involved in sessions. One of her strengths is always finding ways to get children involved in a side activity if they feel unsure about doing the main activity. All the children across the groups she has worked in have really enjoyed having Grace as a staff member and it's safe to say she has been a huge asset to have working on camp. The only time we don't ever see Grace, interestingly, is when the Billy Hunt is taking place or for 5 minutes when Billy appears in the talent show. As if by magic she returns when Billy goes away 🙂”
