We opened our 1st summer camps last week and the season got off to a great start.
The weather might not have been the sunniest, a change from last year when we opened during a full on heatwave, but that didn’t dampen our spirits and we had a fun filled week!
Thankfully, Barracudas always has access to both fantastic indoor and outdoor facilities at our camp locations, so we bring on the fun whatever the weather.
High Wycombe, Streatham and Twickenham St Catherine’s all got off to a flying start and we’ve started as we mean to carry on.
There was lots of high-tension fun in Drama sessions last week! Kids movement skills were put to the test with our ‘laser game’. Children had to avoid touching the web of lasers (string attached to the climbing wall and tables). Those who wouldn’t normally think drama was for them, really enjoyed this special agility activity. Our Dance and Drama instructor, Naomi, was awarded the camp staff member of the week for this session.
Children couldn’t wait to dive into the swimming sessions! With well organised changing times and great processes in place, we had quick turnarounds meaning lots of time in the pool and tonnes of fun. Of course, children were in the safest of hands (as standard) with our trained, experienced Lifeguards!
The Ashes is sparking lots of passion and excitement. With the projector in the Sports Centre reception area playing the cricket, children were enjoying taking a peek at the updates as they moved between sessions! We loved hearing the older children chatting about the players and strategies around camp
Lunch times have been like an additional activity session at High Wycombe! With music playing through the speakers in the Cafeteria, we even enjoyed some impromptu dance routines. The Macarana is still a firm favourite!
Lots of fun has been had at camp. Children have loved burning off some energy and enjoying great variations of firm favourites such as football and dodgeball.
Motorsports sessions have had the children getting excited about trying something new and developing skills.
Kids had an exciting time with our Friday Finale. They loved playing Race Across the Universe, to locate different things explorers may discover such as volcanos and planets to spell 'Under the Sea'. The icing on the cake was at the end where the whole camp met Billy Barracuda!
Your experience is at the centre of everything we do. We're proud to have over 1,200 independent parent reivews and an excellent Trustpilot rating.
We're delighted to have already received some 5 star reviews from our summer bookers this year:
"Amazing summer camp and great staff. My daughter attends 3rd summer and she loves it and doesn't want to go to any other camp. Highly recommended." Agata
"Ellie was absolutely amazing in helping me book the children into summer camp! Thank you so much." Lisa
Each day and week at camp is something special. Our weekly themes add an extra layer of fun to camp and mean that children are always enjoying new in the long summer holidays.
The weekly theme for 17th – 21st July was ‘Intrepid Adventurers’. Children had the chance to contribute to our Big Art project for the week as well other arts and crafts around the theme. Not only that, but other activities are tweaked for them. They could have taken part in:
Each week we go out with a bang with our Friday Finale. Children get the chance to dress up according to the theme and can take part in our end of week event. Last week children were invited to Race Across the Universe or get involved with Alien Invasion Archery.
Camps have really set the bar high once again and we’re looking forward to even more adventures this week with 38 more camps now open. Rain or shine, it’ll be one to remember... Bring it on!
