We’re looking forward to another great summer at Barracudas Activity Day Camps. With just a few weeks to go we’ve got some top tips to help you and your child prepare for an amazing time at camp.
Check your details
It might seem simple, but check your details before camp! Places have been available to book from November last year so it’s an especially good idea to double check the details if you booked some time ago. We send the confirmation at the time of the booking so please check through this to make sure you’ve got the right camp on the right days.
Build the excitement
Whether they’ve been to camp before or are new to Barracudas, we’ve got loads of fun videos on our Youtube channel that they’ll love. Returners can remind themselves of the fun they’ll have at camp with our camp videos and they can see what we got up to at camp earlier this year with our Easter camp video. If they’re coming to camp for the first time our videos will give them an idea of what to expect.
Review what’s on offer
Before they join us, take a look at the activities we offer. You can get more information by selecting your child’s age group and also get to view an example timetable here. We have over 80 activities at our camps so there’s plenty for them to get excited about. Why not also show them the camp page by selecting this from the list of locations to find out more about the great facilities. On top of our unrivalled activities you can also add our specialist Skills Builder courses to any week long booking.
Plan the logistics
It’s a good idea to plan your journey ahead of camp. You can find out how long it will take you to get to camp by clicking the ‘Give me directions’ link on your camp page. Our standard day is drop off between 8.30am and 9.30am and collection between 4.30pm and 5.30pm. If you’ve got a tight commute or need to be somewhere else you can get even more flexibility by adding our Early and Late Clubs.
Pack your bags
It’s a good idea to get their stuff ready the day/night before camp to avoid the morning panic! We’d also suggest taking a look at our Parent Guide before this to make sure you’ve got everything you need. There’s no need to panic, there’s no extra equipment they need to bring, just the usual stuff including spare clothes and swimming things for the water activities. We do suggest that all items are clearly labelled so we can reunite owners with any missing items!
Pack their lunch
We don’t have any food available at our camps so children will need to come in with a packed lunch and refillable water bottle. We also have a morning break and afternoon break so advise that have something extra in their packed lunch for these times too. It’s a busy day at Barracudas and the kids burn off loads of energy with our fantastic range of activities so we’d suggest packing a bit more than you would in a usual packed lunch for school. You can find more tips in our Parent Guide as well as our handy blog.
Slip slap slop
We all know the British summer can be unpredictable (don’t worry, we’ve got activities to keep them entertained whatever the weather) so we need to protect kids sensitive skin against the sun’s rays even when the clouds are out. Make sure you apply plenty of sun cream in the morning and send them to camp with a sun hat and a bottle of sun cream so we can keep them protected throughout the day.
Take a look at our useful video on what to bring to camp for more handy tips.
