When you put your child in our care, you’ll want to know that we have the highest standard of staff on camp.
All our seasonal team are enhanced DBS checked and have to complete thorough training before they can work at camp. But it’s not just about the logistics, you can be reassured that your camp staff will bring enthusiasm and joy to the role. This means your child will be inspired at camp, and have the best experience.
That said, we know it's all about the personal experience at camp. You can get an insight into the people who'll be looking after your kids with our Meet the Team series.
Meet Senior Sports Instructor, Tom
What's your role at Barracudas and what do you love about it?
My current role at Barracudas is Senior Sports Instructor, I started at Barracudas as a Group Leader but over the seasons that I have worked I have now moved to a more senior role. As a young person this gives me the opportunity to develop and learn skills in a teaching environment that in a school setting have been limited such as organising a team of staff, as well as liaising with parents.
How many seasons have you worked at Barracudas?
I've completed 9 seasons at Barracudas. I have worked at Easter, summer and February and October half term camps.
What’s your favourite thing about working at Barracudas?
For me my favourite thing about working for Barracudas is that I feel a huge sense of job satisfaction at the end of each season. This is because I have been able to bond children and watch them grow and develop in numerousdifferent ways. Also, I have made genuine friendships through working here, I really enjoy being able to work with my friends and have fun with them.
Has Barracudas helped you in your current role?
As an aspiring teacher, Barracudas has helped me move towards achieving this in multiple ways. It has developed skills that can only be learnt when you are on the front line teaching and helping children but inadvertently helped me personally expand my knowledge on children, and boost my confidence massively.
Why do you keep returning to Barracudas?
I keep returning to Barracudas because it fits in perfectly with schedule not being in term time meaning it is a way to keep busy and earn some extra money in the holidays. It is really rewarding coming back and seeing how the children are happy to see you and how they have grown massively.
