We’re giving you an insight into what makes Barracudas tick. Although our camps are seasonal, we have a team that work at our Head Office in Cambridgeshire throughout the year.
Every week we will be giving you an insight into our wonderful teams!
This week we chat to the equipment team.
What does the Equipment Team do?
Mark: We prepare the equipment for camp. This involves sourcing the equipment, maintaining and repairing it.
Elliott: We’re always sourcing new and innovative games and equipment for the kids to use at camp.
PJ: We also assist staff on camp with any queries they may have, so you will barely see us in the warehouse over the summer period as we will be travelling to our 46 camps!
What is the best part of your job?
PJ: I like that we do something different every day. Especially when camps are open, we get to go our and visit them which is really fun.
Mark: Going out and meeting new people is my favourite part of the job. I also get to take part in training weekends where we train the staff to use the equipment for camp – these are really fun!
Elliott: The best thing is seeing the kids huge smiles at camp!
Why do you love working for Barracudas?
PJ: The best part for me is the people I work with. Everyone is always really happy and there is a fun atmosphere in the building.
Elliott: I started working for Barracudas in 2000, which means I have nearly been here for 20 years! It’s great to see the kids enjoying themselves on camp and having a great time!
What’s your favourite activity on camp?
Elliott: Swimming is my favourite as it is fun and it teaches a life skill at same time.
Mark: Archery and motor sports is my favourite – I am even trained up to run these sessions.
PJ: The big inflatables are loads of fun and really exciting.
Anything else to add?
Elliott: We are the second longest reigning team in the company with a combined total of 32 years in experience!
PJ: Because of that we all get on really well – it feels like family.
Mark: During peak periods we hire seasonal staff who are like minded, good fun and live the values of Barracudas. They help us get all the equipment ready and sent out to camp.
That’s it from our equipment team – next week we will be meeting the accounts team!
