When you put your child in our care, you’ll want to know that we have the highest standard of staff on camp.
All our seasonal team are enhanced DBS checked and have to complete thorough training before they can work at camp. But it’s not just about the logistics, you can be reassured that your camp staff will bring enthusiasm and joy to the role. This means your child will be inspired at camp, and have the best experience.
We wanted to introduce to you just some of the staff entertaining your child in the school holidays. Nat, who has worked with us since 2019 both in the office and at camp, tells us what it’s like working at Barracudas here.
Nat says:
I originally started off at Barracudas working as an office admin during my year off following my a-levels before going to uni. I’d heard about the company through friends and family, and always loved the idea of working in such a fun and challenging environment.
While working in the office, I got to build on a variety of skills that I hadn’t had the opportunity to in previous jobs. Since then I’ve worked both in the Head Office and with the children at camp.
At Head Office, I became a recruiter for over 8 camps. Given the responsibility of the role I feel that I had a huge professional development that increased my confidence to go to uni and for my future career.
At camp I’ve worked as a Group Leader and Senior Sports Instructor at Cambridge Long Road and Cambridge St Faiths and have also had a blue shirt role at Norwich.
I am now in my third year at Sheffield Hallam University, studying Criminology and Sociology. I’m now looking into graduate schemes and also considering a law conversion course.
Since 2019 I’ve returned each year to Barracudas, to either work on camp or in the office. Working as a general member of staff and then going up to a senior member of staff is an example of the amazing development that Barracudas offer.
With the support of more experienced staff on camp and those from Head Office, I felt I was able to perform in all my roles on camp confidently whilst having a huge amount of fun.
The job is extremely rewarding and there is never a dull moment, I have increased the ability to think on my feet, improvise, engage a group of 24 children and my balloon animal skills have seen a huge improvement too!
I’m hoping to return to camp this year, picking up my role as Senior Sports Instructor. I can’t wait to return and am looking forward to having an amazing time with the kids again!
I could not recommend working for Barracudas enough, the life and work experience they have provided me is something I do not think I could have got anywhere else.
We've loved working with Nat both in the office and on the ground at camp and look forward to welcoming her back to Barracudas.
