Meet Activity Leader, Eve
What's your role at Barracudas and what do you love about it?
The role that I have applied for was an Activity Leader. I applied to be an Activity Leader because I love the idea of running sessions with a mixed group of children. My job entails running lots of fast paced and playful sports/ activities with the group making sure they’re having fun. I love working with children and playing games indoors and out, there is a mixture of sport and more arty activities to try.
Why did you choose to work at Barracudas?
Barracudas appealed to me because there is a wide range of camps, which is perfect for me as i was able to find a local camp near me to work. This also means that I am able to work a lot more weeks throughout the year. I like how there is a variety of activities to run and I have a good relationship with everyone that I work with on camp. I’ve always had the best colleagues and lots of different activities to run for the children.
How many seasons have you worked at Barracudas?
I've completed 2 seasons at Barracudas. I worked at summer camp and October half term in 2023.
What’s your favourite thing about working at Barracudas?
My favourite thing about working for barracudas is the environment, it’s a fun place to work especially when you consider that our main purpose is ensuring that the children have a enjoyable time here as well. This means that the staff also engage with activities meaning they feel playful and enjoy it as well. The kids on camp seem to love the sessions and really enjoy working with my colleagues, who have built strong relationships with each other as well as the children. This all collaborates to keep the day working smoothly.
Has Barracudas helped you in your current role?
I felt very well set up to become an Activity Leader, I was given lots of ideas about what to do from other staff members and encouraged to make the sessions as fun and engaging as possible. I thinkthey’ve helped improve my organisation as well as adaptability, this is because every group is completely different, so it is crucial to be fast paced and exciting to ensure maximum engagement. These are just a couple of things Barracudas has helped me with and I keep on learning with each season I work.
Why do you keep returning to Barracudas?
I keep returning to see the familiar faces that I have worked with over the years. I have seen many of the childrennumerous times/ seasons which is always fun but also rewarding to see their personal development! Another reason I enjoyreturning to work with my colleagues as I have developed genuine friendships over the many seasons that I have worked here, the camp has a great atmosphere and is a fabplace to work.
