Here at Barracudas its not just about the physical activities, new sports and new skills we enjoy.
We have over 80 activities on offer, for every session children get to choose what they would like to take part in. By giving them choice it allows them to feel responsible for their decisions.
Encouraging creativity at camp is a fantastic way to engage children and provide them with opportunities for self-expression and personal growth. Here are some additional ideas to further promote creativity among campers:
There are plenty of arts and crafts sessions on offer at Barracudas here every day. Participating in arts and crafts sessions can also have various other benefits, such as improving fine motor skills, enhancing problem-solving abilities, and promoting relaxation and stress relief. Additionally, it's an excellent way to socialise and bond with others who share similar interests.
We have a theme that runs through the week, and changes every week, allowing us to tailor some of the activities to the chosen theme. This year we have some wonderful themes, including ‘The Greatest Show, ‘Under the Sea’ and ‘Sports Heroes’ and even get the opportunity to come dressed up on Friday. See our summer weekly themes.
A wonderful opportunity for children to show off their talents and perfect their performing skills. Children will love to show off their talents in our superstar talent show, or create their own performances in dance and drama.
We offer additional courses for kids to sign up to, including baking (Ware); the perfect time to get creative in the kitchen. Barracudas are partnering with Smart Raspberry to offer specialist baking activities for kids. The sessions are planned and led by a team of professionals who are passionate about passing on baking skills to the next generation. All equipment and ingredients are provided.
Our movement Skills Builder, Dance Fusion; is perfect if your kids have rhythm in their soul. They’ll build their strength and develop stamina and coordination in these energetic sessions! 4 different genres of dance will be explored each day ending with Friday Faves where they’ll choose their favourite of the week to practice and perform for each other. This can be added when you book your child into a full week of fun at Barracudas.
We've also got some easy ways to keep kids creative at home.
Provide kids with paper plates, markers, crayons, glue, and craft sticks. They can create their own masks by drawing and decorating different characters or animals on the plates and attaching the craft sticks as handles.
Kids love to use their hands to create artwork. Have them dip their hands in washable paint and make handprints on paper. They can then turn the prints into animals, flowers, or anything else they can imagine. Anything to get MESSY!
Take kids on a nature walk to collect leaves, flowers, and other small items. Back indoors, they can arrange these natural items on a piece of paper and glue them down to create a beautiful nature collage.
Kids love playing with slime. You can find many simple and safe recipes online using ingredients like glue or cornstarch. Ensure adult supervision when making and playing with slime.
Mix together flour, salt, and water to create salt dough. Kids can mould the dough into different shapes and bake them in the oven to make lasting creations. Once cooled, they can paint their creations.
Collect smooth rocks and have kids paint them with acrylic paints. They can transform the rocks into ladybugs, animals, or abstract designs.
Gather old magazines, coloured paper, and other craft supplies. Kids can cut out images and shapes and glue them onto a larger sheet of paper to create collages.
We hope your child has fun exploring their imaginations this summer holiday!
