Summary: A new report has indicated mums and dads will spend a collective £5.6 billion so their offspring can take part in a range of summer activities.

Parents will spend £5.6 billion on summer activities for their children, according to a new survey.
The report, by moneysupermarket.com, revealed each family will splash out approximately £330 during this year's summer break.
Of those quizzed, 64 per cent said they are concerned about how much they will fork out over the vacation period and 21 per cent claimed they will struggle to afford extra activities.
However, the cost of keeping active will not stop mums and dads from participating in a range of pastimes with their offspring, as 83 per cent noted they will use money-off coupons and discount vouchers to fund excursions.
And 27 per cent even admitted they plan to give up nights out with their friends so they can use the cash they save towards paying for a family day out.
Spokesman for moneyfacts.co.uk, Darren Cook, remarked: "The long summer school holiday, especially when we have a spell of good weather, will stretch the family expenses at a time when most have needed to tighten their belts."
