Kids in Staffordshire get the opportunity to try new activities

Children in Staffordshire will get the chance to try new activities at a new festival designed especially for kids.

Youngsters will be able to enjoy puppet shows, arts and crafts, a vintage fairground and they can visit an animal section too, the Sunday Mercury reports.

The event, which will see a man-made beach being created, is taking place in August in Barnswood, Leek.

Organiser Sarah Bird remarked: "There'll be something for everyone from building dens and learning how to light fires, to tea dances and learning to jive."

She added that she came up with the idea to make activities more accessible for children and also to break the constraints that youngsters are supposed to stay quiet and not move around.

Mum-of-three Ms Bird also noted the occasion is a way to encourage kids to run around and have fun.

A recent survey by Argos revealed that almost half of parents are more likely to go on a family walk if on a camping holiday with their offspring.
