Activities organised for kids in Sheffield

Parents and children got the chance to try new activities in Sheffield thanks to a fun day organised by students from the city's university.

A range of activities were on offer - including face painting, arts and crafts - and kids were even able to make their own wands.

Youngsters also had the opportunity to participate in dance workshops and enjoy a variety of live music acts.

The project was put together by 12 students from the Arts Heritage Music and Culture Management department and the HeArt event was part of their degree work, as well as a way to raise cash for local charities.

Spokeswoman from the establishment Liz Skipper said the group wanted to arrange a family - orientated event where everyone could try new activities while having fun.

Children in Newcastle have the option to try new activities as South Tyneside Council recently launched a Get Active Team in a bid to get kids to boost their fitness levels.
