Activities organised for kids in Croydon

Activities for children will be on offer in Croydon thanks to a new scheme launched to improve fitness and encourage healthy eating.

Bupa has created the Activ-eat project for kids in Park Hill Junior School which will see specially trained volunteers participate in a range of activities from games to smoothie making in a bid to educate the youngsters.

Pupils will get a pedometer to measure how far they walk and they will also be challenged to eat five pieces of fruit and veg every day for three weeks.

Siobhan Drane is from Bupa and she remarked: "As a health and care company, Bupa are keen to help tackle the issue of child obesity and promote nutrition and exercise through our Activ-eat programme."

West Midlands Police recently announced it will be holding a football tournament involving 25 schools to try persuade youngsters to keep fit while raising awareness of the work the emergency services do.
